Boyle and the Pope?

Posted by: Biggest Fan

July 4th, 2010 >> Susan Boyle News

It’s not a done deal, but Susan Boyle, right, may soon be singing for an authority figure who perhaps won’t prejudge her the way Simon Cowell did. A spokesman for the Roman Catholic Church in Scotland told The Associated Press that Ms. Boyle, the homegrown singing sensation who was discovered last year on “Britain’s Got Talent,” was likely to perform for Pope Benedict XVI, right, during a papal tour this fall. While negotiations were still taking place, The A.P. said, Ms. Boyle is expected to sing during an open-air papal Mass at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow on Sept. 16. In a statement, a spokeswoman for Ms. Boyle told Reuters “Susan’s management are currently looking at the possibility of this happening.”

Hear Susan Boyle sing on “Everybody Hurts’ Haiti relief song

Our Susan did a beautiful job on the remake of REM’s hit “Everybody Hurts” to raise much needed money for the Haiti Earthquake relief fund.

The stars aligned for Simon Cowell, who put the whole thing together, and he managed to lure the likes of Bono, Loena Lewis, Rod Stewart and Coldplay, to name but a few, to contribute to the worthy cause.

“The Haiti earthquake has caused devastation and suffering that most of us will never experience nor could imagine,” Boyle said of taking part in the song.

“I feel privileged to be a part of such a wonderful project that will raise money to help the country.

“I hope the single raises lots of money. It’s great that we can come together and do this. It’s a very special song.”

It is a special song indeed, all the more so for Susan’s participation. Listen to her around the three-minute mark on the video.

You go Susan!

It’s a tough life being a toad. Rarely do kids want them as pets. They’ve been falsely accused of passing on warts to humans. And while a famous green Muppet has enshrined their counterparts in popular culture, toads have been left on the sidelines, still waiting for a loveable mascot of their own.

Susan Boyle: If only she could freeze-frame this moment

May 8th, 2009 >> Susan Boyle News

If the world wants Susan Boyle’s story to forever remain as soaring and inspiring as it feels on the video clip that more than 200 million people have watched, we need to move in right now and freeze-frame that moment.

Boyle’s audition for “Britain’s Got Talent,” where she sang “I Dreamed a Dream,” was a moment of pure unblemished exuberance. This ordinary middle-aged woman in an ordinary dress, unknown outside her small village in Scotland, catapulted herself in five minutes onto an international stage ordinarily reserved for those who meet a carefully promoted standard of elegance and glamour.

The winner of the TV program “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2007, Potts recalls the butterflies he felt in the lead-up to his audition.

“I’m not really sure what made me walk on the stage in the end,” he says. “It did feel like I was walking under my own motion. Especially going out in front of Simon Cowell. I’ve always respected him for his honesty. I just didn’t want to be on the receiving end of it.”
